Blimey! Christmas get together
From 7.30pm Tuesday 12th December
To celebrate 2017 and enjoy some festive time together we would like to invite artists who have participated in our meetings, artist talks and events to join us for a Christmas supper with us at The Old Tapas Bar, Darlington.
In order to reserve your place please email blimeydarlington@gmail.com by Friday 17th November at the very latest. We will confirm places the following week.
*Guests will be expected to pay for their own food and drink during the evening.

blimey X – exhibition and prize
The blimey X exhibition has been a great success, with over 200 visitors over the course of the weekend, visiting our two day exhibition.
The preview event included us announcing the winner of the blimey! £500 prize – Carole Thorne for her work ‘The Gathering’ (see image below). The event was well attended with Pimms and cake on offer, as well as the chance to pick up one of the 10 printed postcards.
During the two day exhibition visitors could vote for their favourite artwork, with the winner of the public vote being awarded a further £500 prize.
With 172 votes cast in total, Sharon Simpson received the public prize for her work ‘Three’s a Crowd’ (see image below).
Thanks to everyone who came during the exhibition and the artists involved.

10 postcards for blimey X
These are the 10 postcards selected from over 200 that we received to our blimey X call out which will be reproduced and available for visitors to pick up from our exhibition on Sat 8th and Sun 9th July.
The selected artists include; Tim McNeilly, Jonny Lancaster, Sharon Simpson, Richard Collier, Carole Thorne, Nicola Golightly, Charity Waistell, James D Robinson, Stephen Muzynski and Stephen Hardy.

We’ll have 200 of each so make sure that you visit the exhibition to collect your favourite and of course see the original artwork in person.
From these 10 we’ll select one artist to receive the ‘blimey!’ prize of £500. The public vote taken during the two day exhibition will be between all works shown and will be awarded a further £500.

June Artist Talk with Roberto Picciau
Join us at Vesuvio Wines, 3A Houndgate Darlington, Co Durham on 7th June from 7.30pm when Roberto Picciau will be discussing his experience of attending the recent Master Class at the renowned Zabludowicz Collection in London, and how this experience has affected his work and also new attitudes that are important for any artist to cultivate.
Roberto Picciau is a multi-disciplinary artist working in the North East of England. As a young emerging artist Picciau is interested in the creative process, the common karma associated with that process and also the shifting identity of the maker through their work.

Announcing blimey X Artist Call Out
blimey! are inviting artists to submit a postcard sized 2D artwork to celebrate the 10th year of the Darlington based artist collective in 2017.
All suitable submitted artworks will be shown in a two day exhibition in July in Darlington town centre as part of our events to mark our 10th birthday. 10 artworks will be selected to be reproduced and printed as commemorative postcards which will be available during the exhibition.
As part of this opportunity two prizes of £500 each will be awarded for two selected artworks, one selected by the blimey! collective and the other by a public vote.
Artists can submit up to 3 artworks including; painting, photography, digital art, textiles, collage etc… All artworks should be 2D and A6 measuring 105 × 148 mm or 4.13 × 5.83 inches. There is no charge to submit artwork to this exhibition.

First meeting of 2016!
Join us at 7.30pm, Wednesday 3rd February 2016, at Darlington Central Working Men’s Club for our first meeting of the year.
We’ll be talking about our plans for artist talks and other events in the year. As well as looking at our Facebook and Twitter account and sharing skills in using social media.

Work in Progress meeting – tomorrow at 7.30pm
Tomorrow night from 7.30pm will be our next Work in Progress meeting, where we invite people to bring in artwork or ideas for discussion and feedback. We will also be discussing and agreeing our programme of artist talks for next year. If you want to join us and take part, or offer suggestions for the artist talks please come along.
