June’s Artist Talk with Roberto Picciau

Thanks to Roberto Picciau for an enlightening artist talk and great to hear all about the Zabludowicz Collection Master Class.

We won’t be having an artist talk in the first week of July as we’ll be installing our blimey X exhibition, which will be open to the public on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July, between 10am and 4pm in The Cornmill Centre, Darlington (shop unit next door to HMV).

May Artist Talk – New Linthorpe

Artist Talk – Emily Hesse and James Beighton (New Linthorpe)

Wednesday 4th May, 7.30pm

Upstairs at the Darlington Central Working Mens Club, 7 Beaumont Street, Darlington, DL1 5RN.

NEW LINTHORPE is a project conceived and run by artist Emily Hesse and curator James Beighton. It recaptures the spirit of Middlesbrough’s historic Linthorpe Art Pottery whilst reflecting the character of the modern town. It asks how clay, our own clay, dug locally, can be used as a material for engendering social change.

With NEW LINTHORPE, Hesse and Beighton are exploring new opportunities for collaboration combining their mutual passions for contemporary art, clay, social history and the exploration of locality. Their work is guided by a belief in not just the ability but also the responsibility of art to make a difference to lives. They are interested in discovering and documenting ways of finding audiences for their work, supporting its development and giving back to societies more broadly. They do not believe in audience as a singular entity and are committed to developing strategies that are just as individual as the people they aim to reach.
