The blimey X exhibition has been a great success, with over 200 visitors over the course of the weekend, visiting our two day exhibition.
The preview event included us announcing the winner of the blimey! £500 prize – Carole Thorne for her work ‘The Gathering’ (see image below). The event was well attended with Pimms and cake on offer, as well as the chance to pick up one of the 10 printed postcards.
During the two day exhibition visitors could vote for their favourite artwork, with the winner of the public vote being awarded a further £500 prize.
With 172 votes cast in total, Sharon Simpson received the public prize for her work ‘Three’s a Crowd’ (see image below).
Thanks to everyone who came during the exhibition and the artists involved.
We’ll be posting news of our next blimey! artist talk soon.
Thanks for everyone who came to our first WIP meeting of 2014. Next month, on Wed 5th March, there will be an artist talk. Further details TBC.
Following on from last year and deciding to hold our meetings on the first Wednesday of each month, our first meeting of 2014 will be on Wednesday 5th February at 7.30pm, upstairs in Darlington Central Working Mens Club.
This will be a ‘Work in Progress’ meeting so please come along and bring any ideas or art work that you’d like honest and friendly feedback on from the group.
We’ll also be planning our next series of artist talks and talking about further plans for the year.
Artist and founder director of Platform studios and Platform A Gallery, Tony Charles will be giving the next artist talk.
Come along to Trash ‘n’ Treasure Art Bazaar on Sat 9th Nov, 11am-3pm at The Bridge Centre for Visual Arts on Hundens Lane, Darlington.
We’ll be having a stall there with loads of stuff on sale, from paint sets to old cameras. There’ll even be some artwork on sale from blimey! members, including prints, paintings, framed works and more…
It’ll be a great opportunity to meet new creative people and find out what Darlington has to offer to visual artists.
Visit the Facebook page here or find out more from the Navigator North website
If you want to have a stall too contact firstname.lastname@example.org for a booking form. Stalls are £5 each, with all proceeds supporting future work at The Bridge.
