blimey X – exhibition and prize

The blimey X exhibition has been a great success, with over 200 visitors over the course of the weekend, visiting our two day exhibition.

The preview event included us announcing the winner of the blimey! £500 prize – Carole Thorne for her work ‘The Gathering’ (see image below). The event was well attended with Pimms and cake on offer, as well as the chance to pick up one of the 10 printed postcards.

Art Lending Library – Call for volunteers

Art Lending Library

Art Lending Library is an ambitious exhibition of more than 50 artworks that takes the form of an experimental library and public procession. Art Lending Library provides the unique opportunity for the people of the Borough of Darlington to borrow works of art and enjoy them within their homes, work places and community centres.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 3rd May until Thursday 5th June at Crown Street Gallery and Library. Members can borrow artworks for a five day loan period throughout the exhibition.

As part of the exhibition the Library are seeking people to sign up as volunteers and get involved. Roles will involve being volunteer librarians, art handlers (training to be provided) and parade volunteers. For info about how to get involved look here.

Part of the events around the exhibition will involve blimey!’s next artist talk being hosted at Crown Street Gallery on Wednesday 4th May. Further details to be posted nearer the time or sign up to our mailing list for news about all of our events.
