Our first artist talk of the year will take place at Greenfield Arts in Newton Aycliffe on Wed 8th February from 6.30pm. The talk by Stephen Wiper will be part of the opening night of an exhibition of new work by Stephen titled My Grand Tour.
This exhibition consists of new work, paintings, etchings and drawings, created since 2014, inspired by various ingredients including my environment, the way people leave a mark on places, music I’ve listened to whilst working, exhibitions I’ve seen, photographs snapped on walks and books and postcards containing works I admire by particular artists. The work explores various things and tests different approaches. I’d not explored acrylic paint and medium before this exhibition or created an exhibition and had previously been rather more traditional in my painting technique, not experimenting so much.

The evening will include the auction of two paintings – one for the 700 Club charity and one for the Bridge Centre for Visual Arts charity in Darlington.
Please note this talk does not take place on the first Wed of February as is usual and we will not be holding a meeting at Darlington Central Working Mens Club on Wed 1st February.
